🌎 Rotary in Action: Santa Clothes in the Philippines

This month’s Rotary theme is Community Economic Development. Lennard Tayco shares a wonderful example of how Centennial Rotary’s support helped a simple Christmas project grow into something much bigger.

Four years after completing my Rotary Youth Exchange year, during which the Rotary Club of Centennial was my host club, I was fortunate and had the opportunity to become President of the Rotaract Club of the University of Santo Tomas – AB Chapter for R.Y. 2016–2017. As I planned projects for my term, I thought, Why not partner with Centennial Rotary Club and bring the Santa Clothes project to the Philippines?

📋 From the Board

September was a busy month for the Board. We welcomed new member Brad Kellum,
and finalized details to support the social committee with the 25th anniversary
celebration. The board also approved funds to purchase a new laptop to support the
club meetings and zoom capabilities. Thank you to Randy Beall and Candy Ostedgaard
for all their help with researching computers to find the best fit and best price. We are
hopeful the zoom and the online experience will be much improved.

👋 Meet Our Newest Member: Brad Kellum

Brad Kellum is a Memphis native and former paramedic firefighter who later attended law school. While in law school, he began making plant-based soap in his backyard and eventually grew his first company, Buff City Soap, to 300 locations nationwide before exiting in 2020. After moving to Colorado, Brad founded Solid Olive Soap Company, inspired by the region’s dry climate and its ability to produce world-class pure olive oil soap. Brad and his wife, Jennifer, are excited to become more involved in the Centennial community through Rotary.
